… across Lyme Bay
Useful N/NE 5-6 then dropped as we got past Portland. Seas slight to moderate… you can get some idea from this video (think times 12 hours)
Up the River Dart to Totnes
England’s answer to Copenhagen…?
And so back to Salcombe … home from home
Anchored snuggly in Frogmore Lake, settling in for Storm Francis blowing through from midnight. Might go and look at the southerly gale blowing on the ebb tide over the bar… (c.f. Tennyson “Crossing the Bar”)
It’s not all idyllic bays, beautiful sunsets and friendly wildlife you know…
Been storm-bound in the Tresillian River (up from Falmouth) for the last 3 days. Cosy hidey hole, particularly in “F6-8 Occasionally F9, seas very rough to high”…
Dolphins playing today
Had a good 15 minutes of continuous bow-wave riding from 3 or 4 dolphins, whilst sailing north past The Manacles (east of Lizard). Best encounter I’ve ever had.
Two Cornish gems
St. Michaels’s Mount:
Dolphins, dolphins, everywhere…
Over the last two days we have spotted at least 10 pods, with between 4 and 12 per pod, of dolphins off the south of Cornwall. Lot of mackerel about (or were). Unfortunately they were so focused on feeding that none came up to play with the boat so the photo is a bit long range.
Talland Cove
Cothele Quay
Beautiful setting and walks. Anchoring not for the faint-hearted…
